Ascencion Amado is Director of Outreach Ministries at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church in Spring, Texas. Ascención has worked as a Clinical Therapist; Certified Therapist and Trainer for Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT); Child Abuse/Drug Abuse/ Domestic Violence Program Director and Counselor; Special Education, Bilingual Teacher and District Consultant; Leader in Implementation of State and Federal Research Programs; Experienced Foster Parent, Clinician and Educator for County and Unaccompanied and Refugee Minors Programs; Expert Presenter on PBS National Television Program. She is fluent and literate in Spanish and holds a M.A. degree in Counseling Psychology with emphasis on spirituality. Participating with Focusing International Initiative has provided a clear path for Ascención and the Community Care Team at St. Ignatius, as they continue to find ways to deepen their commitment, advance their skills, and cultivate the attitudes that lead to the accompaniment of one another.
