Our journey on Focusing, which is something new to us, especially in central Africa, has been impactful though difficult from the onset.
In reality, we discovered that solutions to our psychosocial and other issues are found within ourselves and our communities. So when a problem is community based, the communities themselves must provide their solutions with their available resources and implement it themselves. This makes them own the solution.
Focusing is the pathway through which we get to hear us, know ourselves, and also know others, be it in Psychological First Aid solutions or sustainable development solutions in the communities.
The Focusing Initiatives, through the guidance of Dr Pat and the team, has brought us (the entire Cameron team of SAFE HOME) to a place where solutions are not imported, fictional or imposed cultural patterns. There is no us without us. We are truly grateful for the journey and yet have much to learn.
